Matthew 4
太4:1
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.
當時，耶穌被聖靈引到曠野，受魔鬼的試探。
太4:2
After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
他禁食四十晝夜，後來就餓了。
太4:3
The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
那試探人的進前來，對他說：“你若是 神的兒子，可以吩咐這些石頭變成食物。”
太4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written /ˈrɪt̬.ən/: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
耶穌卻回答說：“經上記著說：‘人活著，不是單靠食物，乃是靠 神口裡所出的一切話。’”
太4:5
Then the devil took him to the holy /ˈhoʊ.li/ city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
魔鬼就帶他進了聖城，叫他站在殿頂上（“頂”原文作“翅”），
太4:6
“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw /θroʊ/ yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command/kəˈmænd/ 指示 his angels concerning/kənˈsɝː.nɪŋ/ 關於 you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike 罷工 your foot against a stone.’”
對他說：“你若是 神的兒子，可以跳下去，因為經上記著說：‘主要為你吩咐他的使者，用手托著你，免得你的腳碰在石頭上。’”
太4:7
Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
耶穌對他說：“經上又記著說：‘不可試探主你的 神。’”
太4:8
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor/ˈsplen.dɚ/ 輝煌.
魔鬼又帶他上了一座最高的山，將世上的萬國與萬國的榮華，都指給他看，
太4:9
“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
對他說：“你若俯伏拜我，我就把這一切都賜給你。”
太4:10
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan/ˈseɪ.tən/ ! For it is written : ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
耶穌說：“撒但（“撒但”就是“抵擋”的意思，乃魔鬼的別名）退去吧！因為經上記著說：‘當拜主你的 神，單要事奉他。’”
太4:11
Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
於是魔鬼離了耶穌，有天使來伺候他。
太4:12
When Jesus heard/hɪr/ that John/ˈdʒɑːn/ had been put in prison/ˈprɪz.ən/, he returned to Galilee.
耶穌聽見約翰下了監，就退到加利利去；
太4:13
Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area /ˈer.i.ə/ of Zebulun and Naphtali–
後又離開拿撒勒，往迦百農去，就住在那裡。那地方靠海，在西布倫和拿弗他利的邊界上。
太4:14
to fulfill what was said through the prophet /ˈprɑː.fɪt/ Isaiah/ai.zay.uh/:
這是要應驗先知以賽亞的話，
太4:15
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles– /ˈdʒen.taɪl/
說：“西布倫地，拿弗他利地，就是沿海的路，約旦河外，外邦人的加利利地。
太4:16
the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow/ˈʃæd.oʊ/ 影子 of death a light has dawned /dɑːn/ 黎明.”
那坐在黑暗裡的百姓，看見了大光；坐在死蔭之地的人，有光發現照著他們。”
太4:17
From that time on Jesus began to preach /priːtʃ/ , “Repent /rɪˈpent/, for the kingdom /ˈkɪŋ.dəm/ of heaven is near.”
從那時候，耶穌就傳起道來，說：“天國近了，你們應當悔改！”
太4:18
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen /ˈfɪʃ.ɚ.mən/.
耶穌在加利利海邊行走，看見弟兄二人，就是那稱呼彼得的西門和他兄弟安得烈，在海裡撒網；他們本是打魚的。
太4:19
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
耶穌對他們說：“來，跟從我！我要叫你們得人如得魚一樣。”
太4:20
At once they left their nets and followed him.
他們就立刻舍了網，跟從了他。
太4:21
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
從那裡往前走，又看見弟兄二人，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和他兄弟約翰，同他們的父親西庇太在船上補網，耶穌就招呼他們。
太4:22
and immediately/ɪˈmiː.di.ət.li/ they left the boat and their father and followed /ˈfɑː.loʊ/ him.
他們立刻舍了船，別了父親，跟從了耶穌。
太4:23
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues /ˈsɪn.ə.ɡɑːɡ/, preaching /priːtʃ/ the good news of the kingdom/ˈkɪŋ.dəm/, and healing /ˈhiː.lɪŋ/ every disease /dɪˈziːz/ and sickness /ˈsɪk.nəs/ among the people.
耶穌走遍加利利，在各會堂裡教訓人，傳天國的福音，醫治百姓各樣的病症。
太4:24
News about him spread /spred/ all over Syria /ˈsɪr.i.ə/, and people brought/brɑːt/ 帶來 to him all who were ill with various /ˈver.i.əs/ 各種各樣的 diseases/dɪˈziːz/ 疾病, those suffering/ˈsʌf.ɚ.ɪŋ/ 痛苦 severe /səˈvɪr/ 非常嚴重的；劇烈的；慘重的 pain 痛，疼痛, the demon/ˈdiː.mən/ 惡魔-possessed/pəˈzest/ 擁有, those having seizures /ˈsiː.ʒɚ/ 癲癇發作, and the paralyzed/ˈper.əl.aɪzd/ 癱瘓的, and he healed/hiːl/ 癒合them.
他的名聲就傳遍了敘利亞。那裡的人把一切害病的，就是害各樣疾病、各樣疼痛的和被鬼附的、癲癇的、癱瘓的，都帶了來，耶穌就治好了他們。
太4:25
Large crowds/kraʊd/人群 from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem/dʒəˈruː.sələm/, Judea and the region/ˈriː.dʒən/ 地區 across/əˈkrɑːs/ 穿過 the Jordan /ˈdʒɔːr.dən/ followed him.
當下，有許多人從加利利、低加坡裡、耶路撒冷、猶太、約旦河外來跟著他。
