1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel :

Israel /ˈɪz.reɪl/以色列

Yǐsèliè wángdàwèi érzi suǒluómén de zhēnyán.
以色列 王大衛 兒子 所羅門 的 箴言。

² for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;

gain /ɡeɪn/ 取得，获得，赢得，博得, 增加

instruction /ɪnˈstrʌk.ʃən/ 指示，命令，吩咐

insight  /ˈɪn.saɪt/ 洞察力;深刻見解

Yào shǐ rén xiǎodé zhìhuì hé xùnhuì,
要 使 人 曉得 智慧 和 訓誨，

fēnbiàn tōngdá de yányǔ,
分辨 通達 的 言語，

³ for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;

Shǐ rén chǔshì lǐngshòu zhìhuì,
使 人 處事 領受 智慧、

rényì, gōngpíng, zhèngzhí de xùnhuì,
仁義、公平、正直 的 訓誨，

⁴ for giving prudence to those who are simple,
knowledge and discretion to the young—

Shǐ yúrén líng míng,
使愚人靈明，

shǐ shàonián rén yǒu zhīshì hé móulüè,
使 少年 人 有 知識 和 謀略，

⁵ let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance —

Shǐ zhìhuì rén tīngjiàn zēngzhǎng xuéwèn,
使 智慧 人 聽見 增長 學問，

使 聰明 人 得 著 智謀，

the sayings and riddles of the wise.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,

but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
